Facebook – How do I see only status updates
This changed in February 2010. Now go to Facebook friend’s status updates only
To see only status updates on Facebook:
- In the upper left menu, under the Facebook logo, at the bottom, click More (in blue)
- Drag “Status Updates” to the top of the list.
- Click on it.
Aaaaaaaahhhhh.

NOTE – I just discovered that this feature only allow you to see someone’s LAST status update (discovered 10/29/09). Wow, Facebook makes this difficult.

the status updates only is a pretty radical fix – as you point out, fb does not make it easy to have it your way. taming notifications is actually pretty easy, as illustrated in this post http://bit.ly/1sGEHh. another way to get a handle on the fb stream is by using friend lists. yeah, it’s a pain sorting through current friends, especially if you are popular, but once you have it set up, new friends can be assigned quickly. because you can include friends in more than one group, friend lists are also good for controlling who sees what in your profile. see how at http://bit.ly/1noGtF. happy facebooking!
